Schools, colleges and offices across Mumbai are expected to reopen and function normally on Wednesday, July 8, after two days of disruption caused by heavy monsoon rain. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has not announced any fresh holiday, as the weather situation has improved. Earlier, educational institutions remained closed because of continuous rainfall and flooding in several parts of the city.

Mumbai Yellow Alert
The India Meteorological Department has reduced Mumbai's weather warning from an Orange Alert to a Yellow Alert; the city may continue to receive light to moderate rain with a chance of heavy showers in isolated areas, but widespread extremely heavy rainfall is no longer expected. Although some areas may still experience waterlogging, normal activities are likely to continue unless the BMC or the Maharashtra government issues fresh instructions.
No School Holidays on 8 July
Officials have said there is no city-wide holiday for July 8. Schools that remained closed on July 6 and July 7 are expected to resume physical classes. However, authorities will continue to monitor the weather, and any decision on future closures will depend on the latest IMD forecasts. Parents, students, and school staff have been advised to stay in touch with their schools for any local updates and not believe unverified messages circulating on social media.
