Mumbai Rain Alert: Mumbai is Likely to Receive Heavy Downpour over the Next Few Days

Mumbai and its neighbouring areas received heavy rainfall on Thursday, disrupting normal life across the city. Several parts of Mumbai witnessed waterlogging, traffic congestion, and delays in public transport as continuous showers flooded roads and low-lying areas. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has urged residents to remain cautious as more rain is expected in the region.

Mumbai Rains Caused Havoc

Water accumulated in many areas, slowing vehicle movement and causing long traffic jams during the morning hours. Commuters faced difficulties on their way to work, while local train and metro passengers experienced delays due to the heavy rainfall and poor visibility. Civic officials monitored the situation closely and deployed teams to clear clogged drains and remove fallen tree branches wherever required.

The ongoing rainfall has also increased water levels in the city's lakes, improving Mumbai's water storage. Some reservoirs, including Tulsi and Vihar lakes, have already begun overflowing following recent heavy rains, boosting the city's water supply.

Mumbai Rain Alert

According to the IMD, Mumbai and nearby districts are expected to receive more rainfall over the next few days, accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds. Residents have been advised to check weather updates before leaving home, avoid flooded roads, and stay away from the seashore during rough sea conditions. Officials continue to monitor the weather situation closely and are prepared to respond quickly to any emergencies caused by the heavy monsoon rain.

Advisory for Residents

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) appealed to citizens to avoid unnecessary travel, especially in waterlogged areas, and asked people to follow official weather advisories. Emergency teams were kept on standby to deal with rain-related incidents, including flooding, tree falls and power disruptions. Authorities also advised people living in low-lying areas to stay alert as more heavy showers could lead to further waterlogging.
