Mumbai-Pune Trains Cancellation

Train services between Mumbai and Pune have been disrupted due to landslides in the Lonavala-Karjat ghat section following heavy rainfall. Central Railway has cancelled several trains until July 17 as restoration work continues to repair the damaged railway tracks and ensure passenger safety.

To manage the increased demand for road transport, MSRTC will operate additional buses every day on the Mumbai-Pune route. These special services will run in addition to the corporation's regular bus operations, ensuring that passengers have enough travel options during the rail disruption. The move is expected to reduce inconvenience for thousands of commuters, including office-goers, students and other travellers.
State Transport Minister Pratap Sarnaik said the decision was taken after a large number of train cancellations left many passengers without travel options. The government has instructed MSRTC to ensure sufficient buses are available so that passengers can continue their journeys without facing long delays.

Officials have also warned passengers against paying excessive fares charged by some private transport operators during the disruption. The additional MSRTC buses are expected to provide an affordable and reliable alternative for people travelling between the two cities.

Advisory for Residents

Passengers are advised to check the latest updates on train services before starting their journey. Those unable to travel by train can use the additional MSRTC buses until railway services return to normal. Authorities have assured travellers that efforts are underway to restore the Mumbai-Pune rail route as quickly and safely as possible.
