As the anticipation for the 'Pran Pratishtha' ceremony of the Ram Temple intensifies, devotees worldwide are gearing up for a celebration akin to a 'second' Diwali. In a heartwarming gesture, Mauritius has decided to partake in the joyous occasion, aligning its Diwali celebrations with the monumental event scheduled for January 22.

Mauritius High Commissioner Haymandoyal Dillum, in an interview with news agency ANI, shared the enthusiasm of his fellow countrymen as they prepare to express their devotion to Lord Ram. Dillum revealed that Mauritius plans to illuminate 'Diyas' and organize Ramayan Paths in every temple across the small East African nation on January 22.
"In all the temples in Mauritius, one 'diya' (earthen lamp) will be lit, and 'Ramayan Path' will be carried out during that day. Simultaneously, we'll also follow the 'Pran Pratishtha' ceremony. Various social-cultural organizations have decided, and the government has appealed to light up, to celebrate the second Diwali in all the houses," expressed Dillum, outlining the elaborate festivities planned.
Mauritius, known for its diverse temples, holds a significant Hindu population. Hindus constitute approximately 48 per cent of the total population of 12.3 lakhs, making it one of the few countries where Hindus are in the majority. The High Commissioner highlighted the deep-rooted connection between Mauritius and India, with almost 66 per cent of Indo-Mauritians across demographics.
"It's a big event. Lord Ram is coming back again. So I think this is a great event not only for India but also for the people of Mauritius, and they are very much keen and willing to follow this 'Pran Pratishtha'," added Dillum, emphasizing the significance of the upcoming ceremony.

Expressing gratitude for the strong ties between the two countries, Dillum appreciated India's invitation to Mauritius as the guest country during the G20. "PM Modi invited us as the guest country during the G20, which shows the strong bond between both countries... We are also planning to send a cultural troop to Ayodhya. The relationship is strong in every field," he remarked, underlining the multifaceted collaboration between India and Mauritius.
As the world eagerly awaits the historic 'Pran Pratishtha' ceremony in Ayodhya, the unity in celebrations between India and Mauritius stands as a testament to the enduring cultural ties that traverse geographical boundaries. The decision of Mauritius to synchronize its Diwali festivities with the consecration of the Ram Temple reflects the shared joy and reverence for Lord Ram, fostering a deeper sense of camaraderie between the two nations.
