The government of Jammu and Kashmir has approved the transfer of this land to Maharashtra for ₹8.16 crore. This decision came after Maharashtra's Chief Minister Eknath Shinde visited the region last June and discussed the plan with Governor Manoj Sinha.

Recent changes in land laws in Jammu and Kashmir have made it easier for states to acquire land. With the introduction of new laws in October 2020, any Indian citizen can now buy non-agricultural land in the Union Territory without needing special certificates.
