Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on Monday launched new train services and announced the extension of existing routes to improve rail connectivity in Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand. He also inaugurated the extension of another train service through video conferencing from Bhubaneswar while reviewing railway preparations for the Rath Yatra in Puri.

Launching of New Trains
One of the major announcements was the launch of the new Nanded-Mumbai Express, which will connect Nanded with Mumbai through Washim and Hingoli. The train is expected to improve rail connectivity for passengers travelling from the Vidarbha and Marathwada regions of Maharashtra, making travel to Mumbai easier and more convenient.
Another new service introduced is the Tanakpur-Nanded Express. This train will provide direct connectivity between Tanakpur in Uttarakhand and Nanded in Maharashtra. The service is expected to benefit passengers from Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand, especially members of the Sikh community living in the Terai region, by offering easier access to Nanded, an important Sikh pilgrimage destination.
The Railway Minister also announced an extension of the existing Tanakpur-Pilibhit train. Instead of ending at Pilibhit, the train will now run up to Shahjahanpur in Uttar Pradesh. The extension will improve transport facilities for passengers travelling between these cities and provide better rail connectivity in the region.
Apart from launching these services, Vaishnaw inaugurated the extension of an existing train through video conferencing from Bhubaneswar. The announcements are part of Indian Railways' efforts to strengthen connectivity across different states and provide better travel options for passengers.
Why are the Trains Introduced?
The newly launched trains and route extensions are expected to reduce travel difficulties, improve access to important cities and religious destinations, and support regional development. Indian Railways said these initiatives will make journeys more convenient while expanding its rail network to meet growing passenger demand across Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand.
