Kerala's Affordable Maritime Venture:
To boost tourism and facilitate economical international travel, the Kerala government has approved the launch of the Beypore-Kochi-Dubai cruise service, set to commence soon. The decision comes in response to a substantial demand from non-resident Indian passengers seeking a more affordable and leisurely travel option.
Union Shipping Minister Sarbananda Sonowal officially announced the initiation of the Beypore-Kochi-Dubai cruise service, marking the first step towards this maritime venture. The much-anticipated service is expected to cater to the travel needs of non-resident Keralites, offering a cost-effective alternative to air travel.
Budget-Friendly Travel for Non-Resident Keralites
Once operational, the cruise service is poised to bring considerable benefits to non-resident Keralites residing abroad. The cost of travel is anticipated to be significantly lower, ranging from half to one-third of traditional airplane tickets. This affordability is complemented by the cruise's allowance for passengers to carry three times more luggage than standard airline regulations.
The cruise is designed to accommodate up to 1,250 passengers at a time, promising a seamless and comfortable sea travel experience. Equipped with advanced technology, the vessel aims to ensure a smooth journey for all passengers on board.
YA Rahim, the President of the Indian Association Sharjah, shares insights into the cruise's efficiency, stating that the ship is expected to reach its destination in just three days. Highlighting the urgency of the service, Rahim emphasizes the aim to launch before the school break in December. This strategic timing ensures that Indian expats in the UAE can travel to their hometowns without being burdened by exorbitant airline charges.
Dedicated Kochi-Dubai Route
The cruise service is exclusively designated for the Kochi-Dubai route, with its vessel originally created in Kochi for use in another state. However, its purpose has been redirected to facilitate Kerala Gulf services, reflecting the adaptability and resourcefulness of this innovative maritime initiative.
