The annual Char Dham Yatra, a significant spiritual journey for many, commenced with great fervor as the Kedarnath temple opened its doors on Akshay Tritiya Friday. Devotees were welcomed with the recitation of bhajans and chants of 'Har Har Mahadev' at this revered Lord Shiva shrine. In an extraordinary display of devotion, flowers were showered from helicopters upon the pilgrims lined up for darshan. The Char Dham, consisting of Kedarnath, Badrinath, Gangotri, and Yamunotri, are now accessible to the public, marking the beginning of a spiritual journey for many.

The opening of these sacred sites is an event marked by grand preparations, with the Badrinath-Kedarnath temple Committee president revealing that the abode of Lord Shiva was adorned with 20 quintals of flowers. As the portals of Yamunotri and Gangotri Dham welcome devotees, the anticipation grows for the opening of the Badrinath shrine on May 12. The online registration for this revered pilgrimage began last month, a process that enables thousands of devotees to embark on this holy journey every year.
Spanning from April/May to October/November, the Char Dham Yatra draws lakhs of devotees annually to these high-altitude shrines, which are closed during the winter months. The pilgrimage, deeply rooted in the Hindu faith, suggests visiting the temples in a clockwise direction, starting from Yamunotri, to Gangotri, Kedarnath, and concluding at Badrinath. This route is not just a physical journey but a spiritual voyage that offers peace and salvation to the pilgrims.
