The Kedarnath yatra registration process has been put on hold until May 8 due to the probability of extreme weather conditions in Kedarghati for the next 3-4 days, according to the officials.
Earlier, Kedarnath had received an orange alert due to the significant snowfall. Officials stopped the yatra on May 3 & restarted it on May 4 once conditions returned to normal. According to the Uttarakhand Tourism Department, registration for the Kedarnath Dham Yatra would be prohibited till May 8 due to the risk of adverse weather in Kedarnath during the next three days.
Additionally, it stated that on 10th May approximately 1.28 lakh pilgrims registered for the yatra, and on May 4 approximately 1.23 lakh pilgrims visited Kedarnath Dham already.

A recent glacier break in the area forced the closure of the road between Bhairav & Kuber Gadere. To ensure the passengers' safety & assist them in crossing the glacier, members of the SDRF, DDRF, NDRF, and police are stationed there.
The above-mentioned officials and employees were urged by District Magistrate Mayur Dixit to make travel arrangements for the protection of the workforce. Since the Kedarnath Dham gates were officially opened on April 25, the region has often seen rain and snow storms.
Although massive landslides & boulder falls nearby Helang on Thursday evening forced the closure of the Badrinath highway in the Chamoli district, the route was restored early on Friday morning after the district's disaster management authorities cleared the debris.

When the Badrinath Highway in the Chamoli district became blocked by a boulder fall and landslides near Helang at approximately 8 pm on Thursday, over 5,000 pilgrims were left stranded.
In the Uttarakhand districts of Uttarkashi, Chamoli, Rudraprayag, Bageshwar, & Pithoragarh, IMD has predicted isolated areas of very light to light rain and thunderstorms. While in the remaining districts of Uttarakhand, dry weather is predicted to predominate. IMD has issued a "Yellow Alert" for 7th May due to the forecast of thunderstorms, hail, and lightning in solitary locations in the state's hills.
