According to the Jammu Division of Northern Railway, the maintenance work is being carried out to strengthen the railway tracks on the Banihal-Baramulla route. The project is aimed at improving the overall safety and reliability of train services in the Kashmir Valley.

As part of the maintenance schedule, passenger trains operating on the Banihal-Baramulla, Baramulla-Budgam, and Budgam-Banihal sections will remain cancelled throughout the 15 days. Passengers planning to travel on these routes are advised to make alternative travel arrangements.

The Northern Railway has expressed regret over the inconvenience caused by the temporary cancellation of services. However, officials said the maintenance work is essential for keeping the tracks in good condition and ensuring safe operations in the long run.

The maintenance work is part of Indian Railways' regular efforts to improve railway infrastructure, enhance passenger safety, and provide a smoother travel experience. Officials said such upgrades are necessary to maintain the efficiency of the railway network and ensure dependable train services for commuters.

The railway administration also appealed to passengers for their patience and cooperation during the maintenance period. Once the work is completed, train services are expected to resume as per schedule, offering safer and more reliable travel for passengers in the Kashmir Valley.

Railway authorities have requested passengers to check the latest train status before leaving for the station. Travellers can verify updates through the official IRCTC website, the IRCTC mobile app, or by calling the Rail Madad helpline on 139.
