Karnataka is expected to receive heavy rainfall till May 25, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD). Several districts, including Bengaluru, Davanagere, Mandya, Mysuru, Hassan, Tumakuru, and Kolar, are likely to witness heavy rain, thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds over the next few days. Authorities have advised people to stay alert as the weather may cause disruptions in many areas.

Karnataka Weather Change
Davanagere is among the worst-affected districts after heavy rain and strong winds created fears of tree falls, waterlogging, traffic jams, and temporary power cuts. Bengaluru has also been facing continuous showers, leading to flooding on roads, slow-moving traffic, and delays in daily activities. The IMD said wind speeds could reach up to 50-60 kmph in some places.
Karnataka Rain Alert
The weather department has issued alerts for many parts of South Interior Karnataka. Districts such as Mandya, Mysuru, Hassan, Ramanagara, Chikkaballapura, and Tumakuru are likely to continue receiving moderate to heavy rainfall till the weekend. Some areas may also experience thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds.
Advisory for Residents
In Bengaluru, officials have asked residents to be careful while travelling, especially during evening hours when rainfall may become intense. Waterlogging in low-lying areas and slow traffic movement are expected to continue if the rain intensity increases. Flight and transport services may also face delays due to bad weather conditions.
The IMD has advised people to avoid staying near weak structures, trees, and electric poles during thunderstorms. Farmers and fishermen have also been warned to remain cautious due to strong winds and rough weather conditions across Karnataka. Weather conditions are expected to improve gradually after May 25.
