The upcoming Jewar airport, set to become Asia's largest and the world's fourth-largest airport, has recently made significant progress. At a review meeting held in Lucknow, it was revealed that the construction has surpassed 75 percent completion. The budget for the first phase is Rs 10,000 crore, with Rs 7,371 crore already spent. With the runways and Air Traffic Control (ATC) infrastructure in place, the airport is expected to begin operations soon, potentially around the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

Jewar MLA Dhirendra Singh provided insights into the ongoing work at the airport. He stated, "The pivotal Air Traffic Control (ATC) infrastructure is also in place. From July onwards, the airport will see the full functioning of two state-of-the-art radars, significantly enhancing its operational capability." Initially, the airport is expected to accommodate the scheduling of 50 flights a day.
The Noida International Airport Limited, the project's overseeing body, announced that directives for long-distance flights would commence from April 25. The review meeting saw key stakeholders' participation, including the Industrial Development Minister, the Additional Chief Secretary of the Civil Aviation Department, the CEO of the Industries Development Authority, and construction executives.
On the financial front, Singh shared that out of the allocated Rs 10,000 crore for the first phase, about Rs 7,371 crore has been utilized. He added, "The construction of the terminal building is nearing completion. In July, two radars will be installed, allowing for radar-assisted flights. The next construction phase is expected to start soon."
With its strategic location and advanced facilities, the Jewar airport is on track to significantly boost the region's connectivity and economic growth. The anticipation for its operation commencement reflects the high expectations surrounding the airport's potential impact on aviation and travel in Asia.
