Japan's Tokara Islands Face Increased Tremors Following Baba Vanga Predictions

In recent days, the Tokara Islands have experienced around 500 earthquakes, coinciding with a Baba Vanga prediction of a massive earthquake hitting Japan on July 5, 2025. This prediction has heightened public fear, as many now view these tremors as a possible precursor to the foretold disaster. The Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA) has reported nearly 500 tremors in Kagoshima Prefecture since Saturday.

Fortunately, despite the ongoing seismic activity on the Tokara Islands, no significant damage has been reported. The islands are located south of Kyushu, and the increase in tremors began on Kodakarajima Island within this chain. The JMA continues to monitor the situation closely.

Understanding Japan's Seismic Activity

Japan's frequent earthquakes are due to its location on the Pacific "Ring of Fire," where four major tectonic plates converge. This results in approximately 1,500 earthquakes annually, accounting for about 18% of global seismic activity. While most are minor, some can be devastating depending on their depth and location.

The public's anxiety is growing as July 5 approaches, with many fearing that Ryo Tatsuki's predictions might come true. Tatsuki, a well-known manga artist, predicted in her book "The Future I Saw" that a catastrophic event would strike Japan on this date. Her book also describes cities sinking into the ocean and a mega-tsunami surpassing the one that hit Tohoku in 2011.

Expert Insights: Assessing Current Risks

Marine volcano expert Yokose warns of potential earthquakes up to magnitude 6 in the coming week. He advises people to remain vigilant but clarifies that these minor quakes do not indicate an impending mega-quake like those from the Nankai Trough. The geological processes causing these tremors differ from those leading to large Pacific coast earthquakes.

This situation serves as a reminder for residents in Japan and nearby areas to stay informed and prepared for potential disasters. Remaining alert and updated with current news is crucial during such uncertain times.
