Russia has proposed its Ivolga FG high-speed train to India, said Russian rolling stock manufacturer Transmashholding (TMH), for India to develop and manufacture the train in India.

Russia Proposes Ivolga FG High-Speed Train for India
The Ivolga FG high-speed train concept was presented on the sidelines of the 18th BRICS Summit held in New Delhi. The train has a design speed of 360 kmph and is being presented as a possible high-speed rail solution for India. TMH has also proposed joint research and development in high-speed railway technology by using Russian engineering and scientific expertise. TMH already has a partnership in India through Kinet Railway Solutions, a joint venture between TMH and Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL). The company is currently involved in the manufacturing and maintenance of Vande Bharat sleeper trains for Indian Railways.
The project includes the manufacture of 120 Vande Bharat sleeper trainsets, with each trainset consisting of 16 coaches. The trains are being manufactured at the Marathwada Rail Coach Factory in Latur, Maharashtra.
Ivolga FG High-Speed Train in India
The Ivolga, designated EG2Tv and EGE2Tv, is a family of modern electric multiple unit (EMU) commuter and urban passenger trains manufactured by Transmashholding at the Tver Carriage Works in Russia. The trains are designed for high-capacity urban rail and surface metro systems, used on the Moscow Central Diameters (MCD) lines. The Ivolga family has evolved through several versions, from Ivolga 1.0 to the newer Ivolga 4.0. The latest Ivolga 4.0 has three doors on each intermediate coach, helping speed up passenger boarding and alighting by up to 30 per cent.
Standard production versions of the Ivolga have maximum speeds of 120 to 160 kmph and are designed for rapid acceleration. The trains can also reverse direction at terminal stations within just 1 to 2 minutes. The trains feature wide 1,400-mm doorways, open gangways between coaches, adaptive smart lighting, USB charging ports and climate control. They also have designated spaces for bicycles, scooters and passengers with reduced mobility.
Newer generations of the Ivolga also use more than 90 per cent to 97 per cent domestically sourced Russian components and parts.
