Gujarat has been facing intense heat, but relief is on the way as the Meteorological Department predicts a drop in temperatures. A cyclonic circulation developing over western Rajasthan is expected to bring cooler weather, with temperatures set to decrease by two to three degrees Celsius over the next five days. This change will provide relief from the hot and humid conditions, especially in coastal areas.

Drop in Temperature Expected Soon
Dr. A. K. Das, Director of the Meteorological Department, stated that temperatures might drop by four degrees within 24 hours. This forecast comes after an unusually warm period for this time of the year, with Rajkot recording the highest temperature at 38.7 degrees Celsius. Other cities like Ahmedabad, Vadodara, and Surat have also experienced above-normal temperatures, making daily life uncomfortable for residents.
Heatwave and Weather Alerts
The past week has been particularly harsh, with extreme heat affecting coastal regions. The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for these areas, warning of strong winds that could continue to make conditions difficult. However, the weather is now expected to shift as the cyclonic circulation over western Rajasthan and the activation of the Indus Trough towards the northeast Arabian Sea bring a cooling effect across the state.
Impact of Weather Change on Gujarat
Gujarat's coastal regions will remain under a yellow alert due to strong winds for the next 24 hours. However, Ahmedabad and nearby areas will experience dry weather, with some scattered clouds in the sky. The minimum temperature is expected to be around 22 degrees Celsius, while the maximum could reach 37 degrees Celsius. Though the weather will still be warm, the gradual cooling will be a welcome change.
Although February usually marks the transition to warmer days, Gujarat has experienced prolonged heat, making it feel as if winter ended too soon. However, the Meteorological Department considers winter to last until the end of February. This expected temperature drop aligns with seasonal patterns, allowing Gujarat to experience cooler weather once again.
As Gujarat prepares for a much-needed break from the heat, residents can look forward to more comfortable conditions in the coming days. The weather shift, driven by the cyclonic circulation in Rajasthan, is expected to ease the intense warmth and bring temperatures closer to the usual seasonal levels.
