Indigo Airlines has issued an advisory about potential flight disruptions due to dense fog in Northern India and Bengaluru. The airline has cautioned passengers to stay updated on flight schedules as visibility challenges are expected to impact operations in affected regions.
Fog Disrupts Flights in Northern India
In a social media post, Indigo Airlines informed passengers about the impact of winter fog on flight schedules. "6ETravelAdvisory: With winter in full swing, many regions in Northern India are experiencing varying fog conditions. On some days, fog may be dense, while on others, lighter fog could still impact flight schedules," the airline stated.
The dense fog has been particularly disruptive in New Delhi, where visibility dropped significantly in the early hours of Saturday. According to Indigo's advisory, "Delhi continues to experience significantly reduced visibility due to fog, impacting flight schedules."
The Indian Meteorological Department reported that Delhi recorded a minimum temperature of 10.2 degrees Celsius at 5:30 a.m. The city's air quality remains a concern, with the Air Quality Index (AQI) at 385, placing it in the 'very poor' category. This marked a rise from the previous day's AQI of 348. The AQI scale considers values between 301 and 400 as very poor, highlighting serious environmental challenges in the region.
Bengaluru Also Faces Foggy Conditions
The foggy conditions are not limited to Northern India. Bengaluru, often spared severe winter conditions, is also affected. Indigo Airlines issued another advisory addressing this situation: "6ETravelAdvisory: Due to foggy conditions in Bengaluru, low visibility may lead to changes in flight schedules. We request you to stay updated on your flight status before heading to the airport."
Bengaluru's minimum temperature was reported at 15.6 degrees Celsius by the Indian Meteorological Department, underscoring the widespread impact of the weather.
