The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a heatwave warning for parts of Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh, projecting the harsh conditions will persist until May 10. Gujarat and Kerala are also expected to experience hot and humid weather until May 13 and May 10, respectively. The weather forecast has identified several locations across India currently experiencing extreme temperatures, with Rajasthan cities dominating the list of hottest places.

Regions Facing Intense Heat
According to IMD's official X (formerly Twitter) account, the following cities have recorded the highest temperatures:
- Barmer, Rajasthan: 45.6°C
- Jaisalmer, Rajasthan: 45.2°C
- Sriganganagar, Rajasthan: 45.2°C
- Jodhpur, Rajasthan: 45.0°C
- Kota, Rajasthan: 44.6°C
- Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh: 42.7°C
- Khargone, Madhya Pradesh: 42.6°C
- Khandwa, Madhya Pradesh: 42.5°C
- Washim, Vidarbha: 42.6°C
- Melagaon, Maharashtra: 42.6°C
- Jeur, Maharashtra: 42.5°C
- Ahmedabad, Gujarat: 43.0°C
- Gandhinagar, Gujarat: 42.7°C
- Surendranagar, Kutch: 43.1°C
- Rajkot, Kutch: 42.4°C
Rainfall Predictions Across India
The IMD has also forecasted light to moderate rainfall in several states. West Bengal and Sikkim are expected to see thunderstorms and squally winds until May 11. Similarly, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh are forecasted to experience rainfall, thunderstorms, and gusty winds until May 12. A cyclonic circulation over Tamil Nadu and a trough running from northeast Rajasthan to South Interior Karnataka are contributing to likely rainfall across Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Telangana, and Karnataka until May 12.
Further, the weather bulletin predicts rainfall and windy conditions in northeastern states like Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura until May 15. Bihar, Jharkhand, and Odisha are also on the list for expected thunderstorms and gusty winds until May 12. Maharashtra is to anticipate similar weather on May 12, with Tamil Nadu and Puducherry expecting heavy showers until May 11 and Kerala on May 11. Additionally, Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand are likely to experience wet spells until May 12.
The current weather patterns indicate a blend of extreme heat in some regions and potential relief through rainfall in others. Residents in the affected areas are advised to stay informed about the latest weather updates and take necessary precautions against the harsh conditions.
