Indian Railways has Launched A New Application Punctuality BZA to Track Train Operations

Indian Railways has launched its first internal mobile application for real-time monitoring of train punctuality. Named Punctuality BZA, the Android-based app has been developed by the Vijayawada Division of South Coast Railway (SCoR). The app is designed for railway officials and controllers to monitor train movements, identify delays quickly, and improve the punctuality of train operations.

Indian Railways' New Application to Track Train Operations

Unlike the earlier desktop-based system, the new application allows railway officers to track train operations from anywhere using their mobile phones. It also removes the need to use the Integrated Coaching Management System (ICMS) web portal, which required users to move through multiple screens and complete repeated OTP-based logins. This makes monitoring faster and more convenient for railway staff.

The app brings together all important operational information on a single dashboard. It displays section-wise train status, Late Train Monitoring (LTM) details, Punctuality Assessment Module (PAM) statistics, identification of delayed or lost trains, and sends automatic alerts whenever a train is delayed by more than 15 minutes. This enables officials to identify problems immediately and take corrective action to reduce delays.

Integration of Punctuality BZA and LTM BZA

Punctuality BZA has also been integrated with another in-house application called LTM BZA, which helps Train Managers record train movements using GPS-enabled technology. The system automatically captures arrival and departure times, train speed, movement details, detention reports, and delay summaries. If a train is delayed, the Train Manager can enter the reason through the app, and the information appears instantly on the Punctuality BZA dashboard for controllers to review.

According to Vijayawada Divisional Railway Manager Mohit Sonakiya, the new applications will improve operational efficiency by providing real-time information, enabling quicker decisions and allowing field staff to focus more on safety and passenger services. Railway officials believe the initiative will strengthen coordination, improve punctuality, and set a new benchmark for digital train operations across Indian Railways.
