Indian Railways' Ambitious Plan: Confirmed Tickets for All Passengers by 2027

Indian Railways' Ambitious Plan: India's lifeline, the Indian Railways, is gearing up for a major overhaul to meet the soaring demands of passengers, aiming to provide confirmed tickets for everyone by 2027. In a comprehensive strategy, the Railways plans to increase the number of trains, coaches, and tracks while incorporating cutting-edge technologies to enhance speed, safety, and passenger comfort.

Indian Railways Confirmed Tickets

The Railways' Vision 2027 includes running a staggering 13,000 trains per day, up from the current 10,748, with a target of accommodating 1,000 crore passengers annually, a substantial increase from the existing 800 crores. To achieve this, the Railways is employing various technologies and techniques, including the innovative push-pull method, the high-speed Vande Bharat train, and the groundbreaking Train Collision Avoidance System (TCAS).

The Railways is investing heavily in the expansion and modernization of the railway network. The focus is on laying new tracks, doubling and tripling existing tracks, electrifying routes, and constructing new bridges and tunnels. The ambitious plan aims to eliminate the persistent issue of waiting lists and tatkal bookings, ensuring a confirmed seat for every traveler.

This announcement comes on the heels of disturbing images circulating on social media depicting overcrowded trains and platforms during the Diwali week. Tragically, a man lost his life while attempting to board a train headed for Chhath from Bihar, underscoring the urgency of addressing the overcrowding issue.

Key Technological Initiatives:

1. Push-Pull Technique and Vande Bharat Train: The Railways is employing the push-pull technique and its flagship Vande Bharat train to enhance the speed and efficiency of trains. Studies indicate that this technique can significantly reduce travel time, with the Delhi to Kolkata journey potentially shortened by two hours and twenty minutes.

2. Train Collision Avoidance System (TCAS): TCAS is an indigenous Automatic Train Protection System developed to prevent accidents caused by human errors or equipment failures. Combining electronic and RFID devices, TCAS alerts the loco pilot about signal aspects or speed restrictions, automatically applying emergency brakes if necessary. This system promises to revolutionize safety, speed, and efficiency in Indian Railways operations.

To achieve its Vision 2027, Indian Railways plans to lay out new tracks annually, expanding the network to 4,000-5,000 kilometers per year. The objective is to increase daily train operations from 10,748 to a remarkable 13,000. The Railways also aspires to reduce travel time by enhancing speed, acceleration, and deceleration.

Coach System Upgrade:

In another innovative move, the Railways is planning to replace the conventional coach-based system with a 'train set' configuration. Comprising 22 coaches seamlessly connected through 'semi-permanent couplers technology,' this new setup aims to improve operational efficiency and enhance the passenger experience.

As Indian Railways propels itself into the future, these transformative initiatives promise a more efficient, safer, and passenger-friendly rail network. The ambitious goal of confirmed tickets for every traveler by 2027 heralds a new era for train travel in India.
