Singapore Air Traffic special report:
In particular, Singapore's Changi Airport benefits greatly from the increase in air traffic because, in April 2022, it was the first country in Asia to reopen its border to travel without a quarantine.
Mr. Lim Ching Kiat, executive vice president of the Changi Airport Group's air hub and cargo development (CAG) stated that "In the previous two years, we improved our airport services and kept in touch with our airline partners in the preparation of a travel boom. Changi Airport has benefited from community efforts, hence it is right now in charge of the Asia Pacific region's travel rebound. In the upcoming months, we anticipate welcoming more flights."
At Changi Airport, 96 airlines are operating more than 5,600 regularly scheduled flights every week as of the beginning of January 2023, linking Singapore to 143 destinations in 48 different countries and territories.

It is important to note that Changi Airport in Singapore handled 32.2 million traveler movements in 2022, which is close to half of the volume in 2019, the final full year before COVID-19 began.
The airline sector is expected to resume profitability in 2023 as well as report a modest net profit of 4.7 billion dollars, according to the IATA. Since the industry's net profits reached 264 billion dollars in 2019, this will be its first profit. In 2020, 42 billion dollars was lost by airlines, while 6.9 billion dollars was lost in 2022.
