India Eased Travel Restrictions For Visitors From China And Six Other Nations, Know Details

The Health Ministry updated the "Guidelines for International Arrivals" and removed the pre-departure Covid-19 testing and self-health declaration upload requirements for international travellers arriving from or via China, Hong Kong, Thailand, Singapore, South Korea, and Japan.

The Health Ministry stated in a letter to the Civil Aviation Ministry that These nations are experiencing a continuous and considerable drop in the trajectory of Covid-19 cases, as has been seen over the past four weeks.

Additionally, according to the World Health Organization's most recent situational update on Covid-19, a global drop of 89 % in the number of new confirmed cases during the past 28 days as compared to the 28 days before that has been seen.

Less than a Hundred new cases are recorded daily in India, which has contnued to experience a steady decline. In light of the aforementioned, this Ministry is revising its "Guidelines for International Arrivals" and eliminating the prerequisites for pre-departure Covid-19 testing and the uploading of a self-health declaration to the Ministry of Civil Aviation's "Air Suvidha" portal for international travellers arriving from or via China, Singapore, Hong Kong, the Republic of Korea, Thailand, and Japan, according to the letter.

In the letter, Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan stated, "The current process of random testing of 2% of travellers to India (regardless of the place of origin on arrival in India shall continue in order to monitor infection related to mutated strains of SARS-CoV-2 among overseas travellers to India.

Earlier on 23rd November 2022 China reported 31,454 local cases, 27,517 of which were asymptomatic, marking the country's highest daily case count since the pandemic's beginning. The most recent findings surpass the 29,390 infections that were noted in mid-April when the megacity of Shanghai was under lockdown.

The Covid measures are darkening the outlook for the second-largest economy in the world and shattering hopes that China would significantly shift its outlier COVID attitude any time soon as it heads for its first winter battling the highly contagious Omicron strain.
According to the most recent figures from the health ministry, 220.62 crore vaccine doses including 95.19 crore final doses including 22.85 crore precautionary doses have been provided across India as part of the national vaccination drive.
