The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast rain across Odisha for the next four days. According to a special report from IMD's Bhubaneswar center, a new low-pressure area is likely to form over the east-central and nearby northern Bay of Bengal on August 29. This system is expected to move towards the south Odisha and north Andhra Pradesh coasts over the next two days.

Heavy Rainfall Warnings Issued
Because of this weather development, Odisha will probably see a lot of rain from August 28 to 31. The IMD has issued warnings of heavy rain for several districts, including Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Koraput, Malkangiri, Rayagada, Gajapati, and Ganjam for Wednesday. In addition, thunderstorms with lightning are predicted in Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, and Nayagarh districts during the day.
An 'orange' warning (be prepared) has been issued for Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur and Rayagada districts for Thursday. For Friday, the same warning applies to Malkangiri and Koraput. A 'yellow' warning (be updated) is also in place for some other districts on August 29 and 30.
Fishermen Advised to Be Careful
The Met Department has advised fishermen not to go out to sea along and off Odisha coasts on August 30 and 31 due to rough sea conditions expected from the developing weather system.
From 8:30 am to 5:30 pm on Tuesday, Bhubaneswar recorded the most rain at 48 mm. Talcher followed with 42 mm of rain while Cuttack city received 28 mm during the same period.
