IMD Alerts Bengaluru: One Week of Heavy Rain Ahead as Monsoon Arrives Early

As the early monsoon arrives in Bengaluru, the city has been experiencing heavy rain since early Monday. The continuous downpour has caused many problems for residents, especially commuters. Roads in many parts of the city are waterlogged, traffic jams have increased, and low-lying areas are facing flooding. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned that Bengaluru will receive more heavy rain in the coming week.

Heavy Rainfall Hits Bengaluru

Heavy rainfall causes major disruptions

The rain that began on Monday has made commuting difficult across Bengaluru. Many roads are flooded, slowing down traffic and causing delays. People living in low-lying areas are facing water entering their homes, leading to more difficulties in daily life. The IMD has said that these weather conditions are likely to continue, with Bengaluru receiving continuous rain for the next seven days.

Early and strong monsoon this year

This year's monsoon has come much earlier than usual. According to the IMD, the rains started as early as March, showing signs of an early monsoon in Karnataka, including Bengaluru. This is very different from last year when the city faced water shortage problems due to delayed and weak rainfall. The early and strong start to this year's monsoon brings some relief after the drought-like conditions of 2023.

Weather forecast for the coming days

The Indian Meteorological Department has shared a detailed weather update for Bengaluru. Over the next three days, the city is expected to remain mostly cloudy with chances of heavy rainfall. Thunderstorms and lightning are also likely to continue. The IMD has specifically warned about heavy rain in the next 48 hours, and this could lead to more flooding in some areas.

The weather report also includes temperature and wind details. The maximum temperature is expected to be around 27 degrees Celsius, while the minimum may go down to 21 degrees Celsius. Wind speed could rise to 40 to 50 km per hour, which may make the weather feel even more stormy.

City residents advised to stay alert

With a long spell of rain expected, residents are advised to stay updated with the weather news and take precautions. The change in this year's weather brings hope for a better water supply but also a reminder of how strong rains can disrupt life in the city.

As the heavy rain continues, Bengaluru must prepare for more wet days ahead while staying safe and aware of further updates from weather officials.
