Hyderabad Weather Update: Rising Temperatures Push City Towards 40°C Mark

Hyderabad is witnessing a sharp rise in temperatures as dry weather conditions continue across most parts of Telangana. After a brief spell of thunderstorm activity earlier this week, the mercury has started climbing steadily again, with several districts recording intense daytime heat.

According to the latest weather observations, Hyderabad is expected to experience mostly cloudy to partly cloudy skies with a possibility of isolated thunder and lightning activity during the evening hours. However, no major weather warning has been issued for the city at present.

Temperature Likely to Touch 40°C

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast that daytime temperatures in Hyderabad could hover between 38°C and 41°C over the next few days. On Thursday morning, the city recorded temperatures around 32°C, while the "feels like" temperature was already close to 35°C due to humidity levels.

The minimum temperature is expected to remain around 27°C to 28°C during the night, offering little relief from the prevailing heat conditions.

Humidity levels are likely to fluctuate between 30 per cent and 70 per cent, while wind speeds are expected to remain relatively light at around 6 kmph in most areas.

Heat Intensifies Across Telangana

The rising heat is not limited to Hyderabad alone. Several districts across Telangana have reported temperatures crossing the 40°C mark as dry weather conditions dominate the region.

Among the hottest locations recorded recently were:

  • Adilabad - 43.3°C
  • Nizamabad - 42.7°C
  • Nalgonda - 40.5°C
  • Mahabubnagar - 40.4°C
  • Hakimpet - 40.4°C
  • Ramagundam - 40.1°C
  • Medak - 40°C

Hyderabad recorded a maximum temperature of 39.4°C, with weather officials warning that temperatures may continue to rise if thunderstorm activity remains weak.

Northern districts of Telangana are currently experiencing the most severe heat conditions, with several areas reporting dry weather and negligible rainfall over the last 24 hours.

Possibility of Thunder and Lightning

While the overall weather pattern remains hot and dry, there is still a slight possibility of isolated thunder and lightning activity in parts of Hyderabad and nearby regions during the evening hours.

Weather experts say cloud development during late afternoon or evening may trigger brief spells of light rain in isolated pockets. However, widespread rainfall activity is not expected immediately.

The IMD has stated that the city may continue to see partly cloudy skies over the next couple of days, though these conditions are unlikely to bring significant cooling.

Areas Most Affected

The heat impact is currently being felt across:

  • Hyderabad
  • Adilabad
  • Nizamabad
  • Nalgonda
  • Mahabubnagar
  • Medak
  • Ramagundam
  • Northern Telangana districts

Residents in these regions are being advised to avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight during afternoon hours, especially between 12 pm and 4 pm.

Advisory for Residents

Health experts recommend staying hydrated, wearing light cotton clothing and avoiding unnecessary outdoor activity during peak heat hours. Elderly citizens, children and people with existing health conditions are being urged to take additional precautions as temperatures continue to rise across Telangana.

Authorities are also monitoring the possibility of localized thunderstorm development, though no severe weather alert has been issued for Hyderabad as of now.
