Hyderabad Weather: Heatwave Tightens Grip On Telangana; City Braces For Hot Day With ‘Excessive Heat’

Hyderabad is set to witness another hot and dry day on Friday, May 22, 2026, as heatwave conditions continue to dominate weather patterns across Telangana. The city remains under an excessive heat alert, with daytime temperatures expected to stay high and residents likely to experience uncomfortable conditions during peak afternoon hours.

After several districts across Telangana recently recorded temperatures above 46°C, weather conditions continue to remain intense across the state. While Hyderabad may stay comparatively lower than the hottest districts, the capital city is still expected to experience warm conditions through most parts of the day.

Temperature To Touch 38°C; Nights To Offer Mild Relief

According to the latest weather outlook, Hyderabad is expected to record a maximum temperature of around 38°C, while the minimum may settle near 28°C during late-night and early morning hours.

Morning conditions are expected to begin on a relatively comfortable note before temperatures steadily rise through the afternoon. By noon and post-lunch hours, several parts of the city may experience temperatures ranging between 36°C and 38°C, making outdoor movement uncomfortable.

Even after sunset, temperatures are expected to remain on the warmer side for some time before gradually dipping later at night.

Heat Index May Feel Higher Than Actual Temperature

One factor likely to add to discomfort levels is the "feels like" temperature, which may remain above the actual reading during certain periods.

Although the current humidity level is expected to stay near 51%, weather experts note that combined heat and atmospheric moisture can make conditions feel hotter than the thermometer suggests.

Residents spending prolonged periods outdoors may experience fatigue and heat stress more quickly during afternoon hours.

Rain Chances Remain Low Across Hyderabad

Unlike several southern states that are witnessing active pre-monsoon showers, Hyderabad is expected to see little to no rainfall activity through the day. Rain probability remains minimal, suggesting largely dry conditions for commuters and office-goers.

Skies are likely to remain mostly sunny to partly cloudy, with clear weather expected during evening and night hours.

Heatwave Conditions Continue Across Telangana

The broader weather situation across Telangana continues to remain concerning after several districts recently reported extremely high temperatures. Districts including Peddapalli and Suryapet emerged among the hottest locations, with temperatures crossing 46°C, while multiple other regions also recorded severe heat conditions.

Weather authorities have advised residents to avoid direct sun exposure during afternoon hours, stay hydrated and reduce unnecessary outdoor activity between 12 pm and 4 pm, when heat intensity generally peaks.

While weather models indicate changing conditions over the coming days in parts of southern India, Hyderabad residents may have to prepare for a few more days of persistent summer heat before any noticeable shift arrives.
