Heavy Rainfall Expected In Tamil Nadu Districts Over The Next Days

Heavy rainfall is forecasted across Tamil Nadu, affecting regions like Chennai, Mayiladuthurai, and Nagapattinam. Residents should stay updated on local conditions, as transportation services may face disruptions due to severe weather.

Heavy rainfall is anticipated in several districts of Tamil Nadu over the next few days, as per the Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) in Chennai. Areas such as Mayiladuthurai, Nagapattinam, Tiruvarur, Thanjavur, and Pudukkottai are expected to experience significant downpours. This weather pattern is likely to persist until Thursday.

On Monday, heavy rain may also affect Chengalpattu, Villupuram, Cuddalore, and Ramanathapuram. The RMC has indicated that on Tuesday, Chennai and nearby regions like Chengalpattu, Kancheepuram, Ranipet, Villupuram, and Cuddalore could see heavy to very heavy rainfall.

Weather Forecast for Tamil Nadu

Wednesday's forecast includes heavy rain for parts of Chennai, Tiruvallur, Chengalpattu, Kancheepuram, Villupuram, and Cuddalore. Additionally, districts such as Mayiladuthurai, Nagapattinam, Tiruvarur, Thanjavur, Pudukkottai, Ramanathapuram, Thoothukudi, Tirunelveli, Kanniyakumari, Tenkasi, Virudhunagar, Madurai and Sivagangai are also expected to receive substantial rainfall.

Weather bloggers suggest that northern Tamil Nadu areas like Chennai might see a decrease in rainfall over the weekend. However, heavier showers are predicted to return around November 12. This temporary respite will be short-lived before the rains intensify again.

Impact on Transportation

The Nilgiri Mountain Rail (NMR) resumed operations on Friday after being suspended for five days due to landslides at ten locations along the Mettupalayam-Coonoor route. The toy train departed from Mettupalayam railway station at 7:30 am instead of its usual 7:10 am schedule. Heavy rains last week particularly affected this route.

From Friday morning until 5:30 pm the same day, Thoothukudi observatories recorded 3.4 cm of rainfall. Meanwhile other locations like Ramanathapuram and Nagapattinam experienced lighter showers during this period.

The ongoing weather conditions highlight the need for residents in affected areas to stay informed about updates from local authorities. As rain continues to impact daily life and transportation services across Tamil Nadu it is crucial for individuals to remain vigilant and prepared for any disruptions that may arise.
