People in many parts of northern India are facing severe heat as temperatures continue to rise rapidly. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the temperature in Delhi may reach 46 degrees Celsius on Wednesday. Although mornings in the national capital are still somewhat comfortable, the heat becomes intense soon

after 9 am. Residents start feeling the strong impact of the scorching weather early in the day. The extreme temperatures have also affected normal life in the city. Roads, markets, and public places are seeing fewer people, while traffic has become lighter than usual as many residents prefer to stay indoors to escape the harsh sunlight and hot winds.
Heat Alert in Delhi
The IMD has warned that heatwave conditions are likely to continue in Delhi for the next few days. Maximum temperatures are expected to remain between 44 and 46 degrees Celsius until May 26. Strong surface winds may also blow during the afternoon and evening on some days.
As per the weather forecast, Delhi may experience its highest temperatures of around 46 degrees Celsius on May 21 and 22. From May 23 to May 26, temperatures are likely to stay between 44 and 45 degrees Celsius. Nights are also expected to remain warm, with minimum temperatures staying around 27 to 28 degrees Celsius, and people may not get much relief even after sunset.
Advisory for Residents
The continuous heatwave has raised health concerns, including dehydration, heatstroke, and exhaustion. Children, elderly people, and outdoor workers are considered most at risk during such weather conditions. Doctors and officials have advised residents to stay indoors during peak afternoon hours unless necessary. People are also being encouraged to drink plenty of water and other fluids to stay hydrated. Authorities have suggested using umbrellas, caps, sunglasses, and light cotton clothing while stepping outside to reduce the effects of the intense summer heat.
