Assam's Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has shared big plans for Guwahati's makeover, highlighting its important role in making city life better. Mr. Sarma recently announced the government's commitment to improving the city's infrastructure and facilities, aiming for a complete urban makeover. One of the exciting plans unveiled is the construction of a modern auditorium in Khanapara, with seating for 6,000 people and parking space for 1,000 cars. Mr. Sarma mentioned that this state-of-the-art facility is set to open in December this year, marking a significant development in Guwahati's cultural and entertainment scene.

Khanapara, located in the southern part of Guwahati, is a major transportation hub and is mainly known for residential buildings like apartments and independent houses. Well-known builders like Unique Properties and Global Groups have projects in this area. Khanapara is a popular neighborhood in Guwahati, with property prices varying from ₹4,500 to ₹6,600 per square foot for buying and ₹13 to ₹20 per square foot for renting. With the announcement of this project, property prices are expected to rise soon.
Additionally, the Chief Minister provided updates on important infrastructure projects, particularly mentioning the nearing completion of the Guwahati-North Guwahati bridge. This bridge aims to reduce traffic congestion in Guwahati by linking the city to North Guwahati, making it easier for people to travel between the two areas. It will also support the expansion of the Guwahati Metropolitan Area to the North Bank of the Brahmaputra River. This major infrastructure achievement is expected to improve connectivity and make transportation smoother in the region, addressing long-standing commuting issues.
Sarma's announcements demonstrate a strategic vision for Guwahati's growth, focusing on boosting economic development, enhancing living standards, and positioning the city as a lively urban hub. With these ambitious plans and ongoing infrastructure projects, the government is set to propel Guwahati towards a brighter future, solidifying its reputation as a vibrant city for both residents and visitors.
