Work on the Gurugram Metro is expected to pick up pace from mid-November after 10 test piles' load testing is completed and the casting yard in Sector 33 becomes fully operational, officials from Gurugram Metro Rail Limited (GMRL) stated. A senior GMRL official explained that digging for the 10 test

piles is currently in progress. Once the load-bearing capacity of these piles is confirmed, full-scale construction will begin. This will include digging more piles that will hold up the metro pillars. Meanwhile, construction work at the Sector 33 casting yard has also started and is expected to be completely ready by mid-November.
Construction Work to Begin Soon
The project's contractor, Dilip Buildcon, has already started bringing in machinery and workers. To ensure continuous work without delays, the company is building housing facilities for workers inside the casting yard. Spread across three hectares, the site will accommodate around 1,200 workers, divided into two shifts of 600 each. "Keeping workers on-site helps save time and transportation costs while improving productivity," the official added.
Launch of Gurugram Metro Project
The Gurugram Metro project was officially launched on September 3 by Union Minister Manohar Lal Khattar and Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini. The first test pile was dug in front of the GMDA office and took nearly a month to complete. After that, 10 more test piles were started along the proposed route.
The casting yard near Hero Honda Chowk will be the main center for making precast metro parts such as viaduct segments, U-girders, and pier caps. It will include casting beds, curing zones, storage areas, a quality control lab, and a maintenance area for equipment. Authorities are also repairing a drain under the nearby service lane to allow smooth movement of large trucks. Once fully functional, the casting yard and round-the-clock workforce are expected to speed up the long-awaited Gurugram Metro project greatly.
