Good news for daily travellers on the Delhi-Jaipur highway. The government has approved the relocation of Gurgaon's Kherki Daula toll plaza to Pachgaon. This move is expected to reduce traffic jams and lower commuting costs for people travelling between Delhi and Manesar. The new location will also introduce a modern toll collection system.

Free Ride Between Delhi and Manesar
Once the toll plaza is shifted to Pachgaon, the stretch between Delhi and Manesar will become toll-free. This is a huge relief for local residents and office-goers who have been demanding this change for a long time. They said the cost of building the road has already been recovered through tolls. According to a report in March, Rs 2,775 crore was collected from tolls while the cost of construction was Rs 2,489 crore.
Modern Toll System for Smooth Travel
The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) will use a new Multi Lane Free Flow (MLFF) toll system at the new location. In this system, vehicles do not have to stop. Cameras will scan number plates and deduct tolls directly from FASTag wallets. This will help avoid long lines and delays like those currently seen at Kherki Daula.
Why Pachgaon Was Chosen
The Haryana government has given around 28 acres of land near the Pachgaon interchange for setting up the new toll plaza. The location was picked carefully to make sure that vehicles can move smoothly and people travelling from Dwarka Expressway towards Jaipur don't have to pay any extra toll.
Fulfilling a Longtime Promise
This decision is the result of several promises made by the central and state governments. People living near Kherki Daula had been protesting for years, saying the toll should be removed. They also complained about the regular traffic jams due to the toll plaza.
Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari has supported the move. To avoid similar issues at Pachgaon, NHAI plans to fully use the MLFF system, allowing vehicles to move without stopping.
Possible Changes at Delhi Borders
This step might push the Delhi government to rethink its toll booths at city borders. These booths also cause traffic problems and make travel slower even on fast expressways.
A new idea is being discussed - an annual toll pass for private vehicles. This, along with the MLFF system, could solve many problems and help make travel smoother for everyone.
The relocation is a major step that will ease the daily travel of many and reflects the success of public demand raised since 2014.
