The 8th edition of the Malabar River Festival is going to happen between 12 to 14th August 2022 at Thusharagiri near Kozhikode, Kerala. This river festival is being organized by the Malabar Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC), the Government of Kerala. It aims to promote sustainable tourism activities in the area by providing a platform for interaction among residents, visitors, and tourists.
The festival's main attraction is the kayaking competition. There will be two separate competitions for junior and senior categories respectively, with each participant having a chance to win a cash prize worth ₹1 lakhs. The organizers have also committed themselves to provide free accommodation for all participants during this period.
In addition to these, there will also be a water sports competition which will see contestants racing boats on the river and touching each other's boats with their hands. This is sure to be a fun-filled experience and one can expect to see some colorful celebrations during this time!
The festival will see participation from across the world with thousands of people coming to participate in this event. The Kayaking competition will be one of the highlights of this year's festival as kayakers from all over the world will compete against each other in an open-water race.
It was first celebrated by a group of kayaking enthusiasts who saw an opportunity to promote their sport among others by organizing an international competition along with other activities like cultural events and art exhibitions.
