Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) Chief Commissioner M. Maheshwar Rao conducted an inspection on Thursday to review the ongoing last-mile connectivity and footpath development works along metro corridors under the South Corporation limits. The purpose of the visit was to check the progress of the projects and ensure they are being

completed on time.
The Findings
During the inspection, he reviewed the integrated footpath project that runs from South End Circle-Abhaya Ganapathi Junction to Sangham Circle. He instructed officials to speed up important works such as drainage construction and laying cobblestone so pedestrians can use the footpaths safely and comfortably.
Mr. Rao also took note of the functioning biogas plant located near South End Circle and the newly opened Dry Waste Collection Centre. He asked officials to prepare a clear and complete plan for managing waste in the area. This includes arranging proper entry and exit routes for waste-collection vehicles to avoid congestion and improve efficiency.
The Chief Commissioner then visited the K-100 citizen waterway. He walked along a 2-km stretch from Anepalya Junction to the Shantinagar Bus Stand to personally observe the condition of the waterway. He directed officials to come up with a full-fledged plan to stop sewage from entering the K-100 entirely.
He observed that sewage inflow has already been reduced in many parts of the K-100 stretch. However, he instructed the Bengaluru Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) to identify the remaining areas where sewage is still entering the waterway. He also asked them to conduct a detailed survey and submit an immediate plan to fix these issues.
To maintain cleanliness, Mr. Rao ordered officials to install CCTV cameras to track illegal dumping and identify violators. Contractors were also told to regularly remove silt and ensure that the walkway remains clean and accessible to the public.
