From Bhudbaral to Modipuram: Meerut to Get Metro and High-Speed Train Together

India is ready to take a big step in public transport with the launch of the Namo Bharat train from Bhudbaral station in Meerut South. This will be the first time in the country where a metro service will run along with a semi-high-speed train, under the Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS). This new idea is expected to improve connectivity, save travel time, and make daily travel easier for many people.

Meerut to Get Metro and High-Speed Train

Meerut Metro to Begin with 6 Stations

As a part of this big project, the Meerut Metro will cover a 23-kilometre route across the city with 13 stations in total. In the first phase, 6 stations will be opened to the public. This will be a big boost for city transport. The central and state governments are supporting this plan, and it is expected that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will take part in the inauguration of this major project.

Safety Check Before Launch

Before the metro and Namo Bharat train begin full services, the project will go through a safety inspection by the Central Metro Railway Safety Commissioner (CMRS). This includes checking emergency systems, entry and exit points, and the full infrastructure. Only after passing this safety check will the project get a security certificate, and then the final date for the launch will be announced.

Trial Runs in Progress

At the moment, trial runs are happening up to Shatabdinagar station. The metro is being tested up to Meerut Central Football Chowk, and plans are in place to extend the trials to Modipuram soon. These tests are important to make sure the system works well before it opens to the public. Officials hope to start these longer trial runs within the next few days.

Project to be Fully Operational by June 2025

The full project is expected to be complete by June 2025. It covers an 82-kilometre route and is being led by the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC). After 2 to 3 months of successful trial runs, services will be expanded further towards Modipuram.

This project is a major step for Indian public transport. It brings together metro and semi-high-speed train systems for the first time. When complete, it will change how people travel in Meerut and nearby areas. With faster, safer, and better transport, the Namo Bharat train and Meerut Metro aim to give people a more comfortable and quick travel experience.
