Getting around Tirumala just became easier—and cheaper. The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) has teamed up with the Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) to launch a fleet of free buses for devotees.

Why the new service?
Many pilgrims have long relied on private jeeps or taxis, often paying steep fares for short hops across the hill town. TTD’s additional executive officer, Ch Venkaiah Choudary, said the new buses aim to ease that financial burden and cut down on the pollution caused by so many private vehicles.
“We want every visitor—young, old, or travelling on a tight budget—to move around Tirumala without worrying about extra costs,” Choudary explained at the launch ceremony, thanking APSRTC for its quick support.
Familiar routes, zero fare
The bright‑green RTC buses will follow the same loops as the well‑known Srivari Dharma Rathas, making stops at all the usual points: the main temple complex, guesthouses, laddu counters, and other key locations. If you’ve ridden the free temple shuttles before, you’ll find these buses on the very same roads—only now there are more of them.
A win for pilgrims and the planet
Free rides mean lighter wallets and lighter traffic. TTD hopes that as more visitors choose these buses over taxis, Tirumala’s narrow lanes will see fewer exhaust‑belching vans and shorter lines of honking cars. Less congestion also translates into cleaner air on the hill.
APSRTC officials say they’re ready to scale up the fleet if demand rises during festival rushes. For now, conductors will simply welcome passengers aboard—no tickets, no fuss.
Part of a bigger push
The bus launch is one of several improvements TTD is rolling out this year. From upgraded guesthouse rooms to greener waste‑management systems, the trust wants every visit to feel smoother and more sustainable.
So, if you’re planning a trip to Tirumala, keep an eye out for the new APSRTC buses. Hop on, sit back, and enjoy the ride—your wallet and the environment will thank you.
