Several areas in west and north-west Bengaluru will experience a full-day power cut on Friday, December 26, due to emergency maintenance work, the city's electricity supply agency has announced. The power shutdown will last for nearly seven hours and will affect many residential layouts, apartment buildings and nearby localities.

Why is the Power Cut Essential?
According to the Bengaluru Electricity Supply Company Limited (BESCOM), electricity supply will be suspended from 10 am to 5 pm on December 26. This interruption is because the Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation Limited (KPTCL) will be carrying out emergency and quarterly maintenance work at the 66/11 kV Chandra Layout Station, which supplies power to these areas.
Officials stated the shutdown is essential to ensure the safety and reliability of the power network. Once the maintenance work is completed, electricity will be restored to all affected areas. BESCOM added that the outage cannot be avoided, as the work involves critical repairs and checks at the substation. These regular maintenance activities help prevent sudden power failures in the future and improve the overall stability of the electricity supply.
List of Areas to be Affected
The areas likely to be affected by the power cut include RPC Layout, Remco Layout, Kalyan Layout, Subbanna Garden, Widia Layout, MRCR Layout, Chandra Layout, Bapuji Layout, Vinayaka Layout, Moodlapalya, Skyline Apartment, Canara Bank Colony, Vidyagiri Layout, Gangondanahalli, Suvarna Layout, BDA 13th and 14th Block, Kengunte, Bhyraveshwaranagara, Nagarabhavi Coconut Garden and surrounding localities.
Advisory for Residents
BESCOM has advised residents to plan their activities to reduce inconvenience. People working from home, business owners, and households that rely heavily on electrical appliances are urged to make necessary arrangements. Charging mobile phones, laptops, and other essential devices beforehand can help manage the outage better.
Power supply is expected to return gradually after 5 pm, depending on the completion of the maintenance work. Residents are encouraged to follow BESCOM's official communication channels for any updates or changes to the schedule.
