Dwarka Expressway Entry at Daulatabad Chowk Closed for 44 Days – Traffic Reroutes Announced

Travelers in Gurugram and nearby areas will soon face a major challenge as the entry to Delhi at Daulatabad Chowk on the Dwarka Expressway will be closed for 44 days. The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has announced that this closure, from March 18 to April 30, 2025, is necessary for replacing the expansion joint. However, it will lead to significant traffic disruptions, forcing commuters to take alternative routes and adding to their daily travel time.

Dwarka Expressway Entry Closed

Traffic Reroutes and Commuter Impact

With this closure in place, commuters from Gurugram sectors 99 to 106, Dhankot, Basai, and Kherki Majra will no longer be able to use the expressway entry at Daulatabad Chowk. Instead, they will be redirected to surface roads and rejoin the expressway after the Bijwasan toll plaza.

This move is expected to heavily impact residents traveling to Delhi, Dwarka, and the Delhi Airport, as they will be forced to use the already congested NH-48. Many commuters had shifted to the Dwarka Expressway to avoid NH-48, but with this closure, they will now have no choice but to return to it.

Concerns Raised by Commuters

Many daily travelers have expressed frustration over the situation. Some office workers have reported that their travel time will increase by nearly two hours each day, making their commute longer and more tiring.

A local commuter shared their concern, stating that the expressway was originally meant to reduce congestion, but now they are being forced back onto NH-48, where traffic is always heavy. Others have urged the NHAI to come up with better traffic management strategies to minimize the inconvenience caused by this closure.

Official Announcement and Public Awareness

The NHAI officially announced the closure on X (formerly Twitter), informing the public about the 44-day restriction. Their statement read:

"Attention commuters! Due to expansion joint replacement work, the entry from the elevated service road at Daulatabad Chowk towards #Delhi on #DwarkaExpressway will be closed from March 18 till April 30, 2025, for 44 days."

This notice aims to help commuters plan their journeys in advance, but many still believe that better alternatives should have been arranged to prevent such disruptions.

The Need for Better Traffic Solutions

As the closure begins, commuters are urging the NHAI to implement improved traffic management to reduce delays. With thousands of people depending on this route daily, effective planning is crucial to ensure smoother travel.

While the roadwork is necessary for long-term improvements, the next 44 days will be challenging for daily commuters. The community remains hopeful that the NHAI will find ways to ease the situation and help people navigate the travel disruptions more efficiently.
