Delhi witnessed dense fog from the early hours of Thursday, affecting daily life across the city. A thick blanket of fog covered many areas, sharply reducing visibility and causing inconvenience to residents. The poor visibility led to delays in air, rail, and road transport, especially during the morning hours.

Delay of Flights
At least 40 flights were delayed due to the foggy conditions. Earlier, the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport had informed passengers that flight operations were being conducted under CAT III conditions, which are used during very low visibility and can lead to delays or disruptions. Low Visibility Procedures (LVPs) were also put in place as a precaution. However, in a later update, airport authorities said that flight operations had returned to normal. Passengers were advised to stay in touch with their airlines for the latest updates on their flights.
Impact on Train Services
Train services were also badly affected. More than 22 trains were delayed, with some running several hours behind schedule. Trains such as the Prayagraj Express, Rewa-Anand Vihar Express, Nauchandi Express, and Kaifiyat Express faced delays ranging from a few hours to nearly half a day. The New Delhi Vande Bharat Express was delayed by almost nine hours, while the Anand Vihar Jansadharan Express was delayed by around 12 hours. In addition, many other trains under the Northern Railway Zone continued to run late. Two trains from the Delhi Division, the Jhelum Express and the Amritsar Superfast Express, were diverted due to the conditions.
Road Traffic
Road traffic was also impacted as dense fog slowed vehicle movement on major roads and highways linking Delhi with nearby NCR cities. Vehicles were seen moving cautiously to avoid accidents.
Weather officials have said that foggy conditions are likely to continue during the early morning hours over the next few days as winter becomes more severe.
