Delhi's Riverfront Natural Makeover with New Parks, River Views, and Cycle Tracks

Delhi is changing, and for the better. The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) is working hard to turn unused or old spaces into clean, green, and beautiful public areas. In the past two years, five such spaces have already been developed. And that's not all - six more are planned in the coming years. These efforts are part of a larger plan to improve how people live and relax in the city.

Delhi Riverfront s Natural Makeover

The DDA has taken on the huge task of redeveloping 1,660 hectares of land across the city. Out of this, 740 hectares have already been developed. Some of the most popular sites include Asita East and West, Kalindi Aviral which has the lovely Baansera Park, Vasudev Ghat, Amrut Biodiversity Park, and Yamuna Vatika near Rajghat.

These places are becoming clean, green escapes for people who want a break from the city's noise and rush. Nature lovers, families, walkers, and cyclists are already enjoying these areas.

New riverfront at Sarai Kale Khan

One of the most exciting new projects is the transformation of the old Millennium Park Bus Depot at Sarai Kale Khan. This spot will soon become a beautiful riverfront along the Yamuna River. Located on a 25-hectare land stretch beside Ring Road, it is expected to become a major attraction in Delhi.

It will include a central piazza, a topiary garden, a local shopping centre inspired by the famous Sunder Nursery, parking lots, and a peaceful river promenade where people can walk and relax by the water.

This location was once used for parking nearly 1,000 buses during the 2010 Commonwealth Games. It was supposed to be temporary but remained in use till 2020. In 2023, the land was handed over to the DDA for redevelopment.

Upcoming nature parks and green areas

More green projects are on the way. These include the Kalindi Biodiversity Park near the DND Flyway and the Mayur Nature Park beside the Nizamuddin Bridge. A new ecotourism zone near Rajghat is also being planned.

One of the biggest goals is to connect all 11 projects through cycle tracks and walkways. This will make it easier for people to visit different areas without using cars and will promote eco-friendly travel in the city.

Delhi is getting ready to offer its people new and improved spaces for nature, fun, and community life. The future looks greener and more beautiful.
