Heavy rain lashed several parts of Delhi-NCR on Wednesday, bringing relief from the hot and humid weather but also causing waterlogging and traffic congestion in many areas. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), more showers are expected across the region until Friday, with thunderstorms and gusty winds likely at isolated places.
Delhi Rain Alert Today
The IMD has forecast light to moderate rainfall over Delhi, Noida, Ghaziabad, Gurugram and nearby areas during the next two days. A yellow alert remains in place, warning residents about the possibility of heavy rain at a few locations, along with lightning and strong winds. According to the weather department, the rain has brought temperatures down, making the weather much more pleasant than the previous few days. Cloudy skies are expected to continue, with intermittent rain and thunderstorms likely across Delhi-NCR through Friday. The IMD said weather conditions remain favourable for more monsoon showers over the region. People have been advised to stay cautious while travelling, especially during peak traffic hours.
Delhi Rains Caused Waterlogging in Several Areas
The rainfall on Wednesday led to waterlogging in several low-lying areas, slowing traffic and causing inconvenience to commuters. Many roads witnessed long traffic jams as vehicles moved slowly through flooded stretches. Authorities have asked motorists to drive carefully and avoid waterlogged roads whenever possible.
Advisory for Delhi Residents
Residents have been advised to keep an eye on weather updates before heading outdoors. People are also encouraged to avoid taking shelter under trees during thunderstorms and to remain alert in areas prone to waterlogging. While the rain has provided relief from the heat, it may continue to affect traffic movement and daily activities in parts of the National Capital Region over the next couple of days.
