Delhi Orange Alert on Monday: Delhi is Likely to Experience More Rainfall Over the Next Few Days

Delhi-NCR is likely to witness more rainfall over the next few days, thunderstorms, lightning, and heavy showers across the region, according to the India Meteorological Department. Rain is expected to begin in some places on July 6; however, rainfall activity is likely to become more widespread from July 7, and wet weather may continue until July 11.

Delhi Orange Alert on Monday

The IMD has issued an orange alert for Monday, warning of moderate to heavy rain along with thunderstorms and strong winds. The weather department has also cautioned that changing weather conditions could affect road traffic and flight operations.

Delhi Rain Alert

Delhi is expected to receive isolated to scattered rain on July 6 and July 10. Heavier rainfall is likely between July 7 and July 9, while widespread showers are expected again on July 11. The IMD has also warned of isolated heavy rain in Delhi and nearby areas from July 6 to July 9 and on July 11. Strong winds are also expected across many parts of Delhi, including South, Central, East, North, West, New Delhi, Shahdara, and South West Delhi. Wind speeds may range between 40 and 50 kmph and reach up to 60 kmph.

Neighbouring states are also likely to receive rain. Haryana, Punjab, and Chandigarh may witness scattered rainfall on July 6 and July 10. In East Rajasthan, very heavy rainfall is expected between July 6 and July 10, followed by heavy showers on July 11.

Delhi's Highest Temperature Records in July

On Sunday, Delhi recorded its hottest July day in two years, with the maximum temperature touching 38.6°C. Chhatarpur received the highest rainfall in Delhi-NCR with 49 mm, leading to waterlogging. Gurugram recorded 35 mm, while Mehrauli, Greater Noida, Najafgarh and Janakpuri also received rain. The minimum temperature was 29.2°C, and humidity reached 92%, making the weather hot and humid.
