Delhi Metro commuters may soon hear short audio advertisements during their journey, as DMRC is planning to introduce in-train audio ads on four of its busiest corridors: Red, Yellow, Blue, and Magenta lines to increase its non-fare revenue.

Delhi Metro's New Initiative
The advertisements will be played only during the silent gaps between regular station announcements. DMRC has clarified that passenger information and safety announcements will always be given priority, and there will be enough time between ads to avoid inconvenience to commuters.
DMRC to Invite Tenders
To implement the project, DMRC has floated a tender inviting agencies to market and manage audio advertisement slots on six trains each across the four metro lines. The Red Line, which runs between Dilshad Garden and Rithala, has the highest advertising inventory with 721 seconds of available audio time. It is followed by the Blue Line, Dwarka-Yamuna Bank with 634 seconds, the Yellow Line, Kashmere Gate-Sultanpur with 596 seconds, and the Magenta Line, Janakpuri West-Botanical Garden with 300 seconds.
This is not the first time DMRC has experimented with audio advertisements. The corporation launched a pilot project on six trains of the Violet Line in December 2023. After receiving a positive response, it has now decided to expand the initiative to some of its busiest routes.
Delhi Metro's New Strategy
The move is part of DMRC's strategy to earn more revenue from sources other than ticket sales. By using existing public announcement systems, the metro operator aims to create a new advertising platform without affecting normal train operations. Officials said the initiative is expected to strengthen DMRC's finances while ensuring that commuters continue to receive important travel and safety information without interruption.
