Delhi Metro Will Extend to New Stations in Haryana on 26.46-km Red Line; Check the Names

The Delhi Metro's ambitious Red Line Extension from Rithala to Kundli, via Narela, is set to transform travel in the National Capital Region (NCR). This 26.46-km corridor aims to enhance connectivity between Delhi and the fast-developing regions of Narela and Kundli in Haryana, making daily commutes easier and boosting infrastructure in the area. Approved by the Union Cabinet, the project is part of the Delhi Metro's Phase-IV expansion and promises to benefit thousands of commuters.

Delhi Metro Extension to Haryana

Budget and Timeline

With a budget of ₹6,230 crore, this project is expected to be completed within four years. Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced that the extension is designed to serve an estimated 1.26 lakh passengers daily. By improving public transport options, it aims to reduce road congestion, foster economic growth, and promote environmentally friendly commuting.

Strategic Importance and Regional Impact

The new line is the Delhi Metro's fourth extension into Haryana, following Gurugram, Ballabhgarh, and Bahadurgarh. It will connect Haryana and Uttar Pradesh through Delhi, solidifying the metro's position as one of the largest systems globally. This extension supports the area's urban growth by providing a reliable transport system for industrial workers, residents, and sports enthusiasts.

Construction Progress and Challenges

Construction is progressing steadily, with elevated tracks and station structures taking shape. Challenges like land acquisition and utility clearances have arisen but are being addressed to ensure timely completion. The project's completion by March 2026 will align with the broader goals of the Phase-IV expansion, which has already achieved 56% progress.

New Stations and Routes

The Rithala-Narela-Kundli stretch will be entirely elevated, with 23.73 km in Delhi and 2.73 km in Haryana. The project includes 21 new stations, connecting residential, commercial, and industrial areas like Rohini, Bawana Industrial Area, Narela, and Kundli. A maintenance depot near Sanoth village will support efficient operations.

The project is strategically vital as it caters to key areas, including Rohini, Narela's DDA Sports Complex, and Kundli. Enhanced connectivity is expected to drive both economic and residential development in the region, making it a preferred location for businesses and families alike.

Affordable and Sustainable Travel

The extension will follow the current Delhi Metro fare structure, offering affordable options like daily, weekly, and monthly passes. This makes it an economical and sustainable choice for commuters, aligning with Delhi Metro's focus on user-friendly services.

This extension is a critical step towards improving transportation in the NCR. It is expected to reduce travel times, lower commuting costs, and support sustainable urban growth. By connecting key industrial and residential hubs, the project will elevate the living standards of thousands while promoting economic and environmental progress in the region.
