For the first time, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) will install platform screen doors (PSDs) made in India in its upcoming metro corridors. Earlier, these doors were imported from different companies, but now DMRC has decided to support local manufacturing under the "Make in India" initiative. Officials have invited

Indian companies to participate in supplying these doors.
Delhi Metro Trains New Features
Platform screen doors are safety barriers installed at the edge of metro platforms. Full-height doors will be used at underground stations, while half-height doors will be installed at elevated stations. At present, out of 303 operational metro stations, only 83 have half-height PSDs and just eight have full-height doors.
Delhi Metro's Door Installation
Now, DMRC plans to install these doors at all stations in the upcoming Phase IV and Phase V metro corridors. This decision follows directions from the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, which asked metro systems across India to ensure that at least 75% of PSD manufacturing is done within the country. The ministry also stated that India has enough capacity and competition to produce these systems locally.
Currently, full-height PSDs are installed on all stations of the Airport Express Line and at the Krishna Park Extension station on the Magenta Line. PSDs are also present on the Pink and Magenta lines, which operate driverless trains. Additionally, six busy stations on the Yellow Line, including Kashmere Gate and Rajiv Chowk, have been upgraded with these doors.
Delhi Metro's Phase 4 Construction
The Delhi Metro network currently covers about 416 km with 303 stations, including the Noida-Greater Noida Aqua Line and Rapid Metro Gurgaon. Several new corridors are under construction in Phase IV, and more routes have been approved under Phase V expansion. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta recently announced additional corridors, further expanding the metro network across the city.
