The Central Government has approved Rs 1,647 crore for 28 major infrastructure projects in Delhi, giving a big boost to the city's development. The funding is expected to speed up the construction of metro lines, flyovers, elevated roads and electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure across the national capital.
Delhi's Upcoming Infrastructural Projects Received Funding
Announcing the approval on Sunday, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said the financial support would help complete several long-pending public projects more quickly. She said the new investment would improve transport, connectivity and public facilities across the city.
Delhi Metro Expansion
Among the key projects approved are the expansion of the Delhi Metro network, construction of the Barapulla Elevated Corridor, development of the Karawal Nagar Flyover, installation of EV charging stations, and several other infrastructure works aimed at improving mobility and public services.
Delhi's CM Expressed Gratitude
Chief Minister Gupta thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for approving the funds. In a post on X, she said the Centre's support had given momentum to Delhi's development. She added that these important projects, which are in the public interest, would now move ahead at a much faster pace.
Central Government Approved Additional Funds
Apart from the infrastructure funding, the Centre has also approved an additional Rs 756 crore for the Delhi government. This amount has been given as an incentive for the government's strong performance in capital expenditure. According to the Chief Minister, the incentive reflects the Centre's confidence in Delhi's commitment to development and its ability to carry out major projects successfully.
Delhi's Rapid Growth in Every Sector
Gupta also said that Delhi is witnessing rapid growth in different sectors under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah. She made these remarks while attending the inauguration of the Jayaprakash Narayan (JPN) Public Library, which was inaugurated by Amit Shah.
Congratulating the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC), the Chief Minister said the new library would serve as an important centre for learning. She expressed confidence that it would benefit students, researchers, and readers by providing better access to books, study materials, and other educational resources, while also promoting knowledge and learning in the city.
