The Delhi Government has started a new electric bus service called D.EV.i (Delhi Electric Vehicle Interchange) to reduce pollution and improve public transport. This big step is part of the government's plan to reduce the carbon footprint of the capital city. The electric buses are provided by PMI Electro Mobility and will help cut around 5,600 tons of CO2 over the next 10 years.

During the launch event, 255 electric buses were introduced. Important leaders such as Delhi's Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, Minister of State for Transport & Highways and Corporate Affairs Harsh Malhotra, and Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan were present. This event marked the beginning of a cleaner and greener public transport system for Delhi.
Connecting the City with Cleaner Buses
The new D.EV.i electric buses will connect smoothly with the existing DTC and Cluster bus services. The goal is to make public transport more efficient and easy to use. The 255 buses launched are just the beginning. The Delhi Government plans to expand the electric bus fleet to 2,080 buses by 2025-2026.
These new electric buses are 9 meters long and have 23 seats. Six seats are reserved for women, and there is a special space for wheelchairs. The buses also have an automated ramp, a low-floor design, and a "kneeling" feature, making it easy for elderly and differently-abled passengers to get on and off. Other smart features include real-time tracking, automatic passenger counting, and air suspension, making travel smoother and safer for all passengers.

PMI Electro Mobility's Support for a Greener Delhi
Dr. Aanchal Jain, CEO of PMI Electro Mobility, shared her pride in being part of this eco-friendly mission. She said that PMI is fully committed to electric transport and building a clean public transport system. Dr. Jain also shared that PMI's electric buses have already travelled over 20 crore kilometers across India.
PMI operates in 31 cities, with more than 2,500 electric buses running in states like Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh, Kerala, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Goa, West Bengal, and Odisha. Their wide presence shows how electric transport is growing across the country.
Moving Towards a Greener Future
The D.EV.i project is a big step towards cleaner air, better public transport, and a healthier future for Delhi. With electric buses that are safe, smart, and easy to use, the city is leading the way in electric mobility. This initiative shows how other cities in India can also use electric vehicles to fight pollution and improve life for their people.
