The four-day heatwave in Delhi eased slightly on Friday, but the city continued to face very hot weather. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) said there may be some thunderstorms on Saturday due to a weak western disturbance. However, this is not expected to bring major relief, and heatwave-like conditions may continue in some parts of the city until at least May 28.

Thunderstorm Alert in Delhi on Saturday
An IMD official said the thunderstorms expected on Saturday may lower temperatures by 1 to 2 degrees Celsius. But the heat is likely to increase again from Sunday, so people should not expect much comfort over the coming six days.
Delhi Heat Alert
The IMD has issued an orange alert for heatwave conditions in parts of Delhi from Saturday to May 28. Maximum temperatures are expected to remain between 43°C and 45°C on Saturday and may rise to 44°C to 46°C from Sunday onward.
No Heatwave on Friday
Delhi's main weather station at Safdarjung recorded a maximum temperature of 43.3 degrees Celsius, which was three degrees above normal. The hottest area in the city was the Ridge observatory in north Delhi, where the temperature reached 44.4 degrees Celsius.
Although no weather station in Delhi officially recorded a heatwave on Friday, IMD officials said nearby Haryana and Chandigarh were under heatwave conditions, and Delhi was also feeling the impact. According to IMD rules, a heatwave is declared when the temperature reaches 45°C or remains above 40°C and is at least 4.5°C above normal.
