The Delhi administration has declared an immediate ban on Two- wheeler service providers (bike taxis). Yes! this news is shocking for the whole nation as the capital has implemented this ban. Especially for locals of Delhi as for them, bike taxis were one of the most economical ways to commute as the cab prices are touching the sky.
Ola, Uber, and Rapido, three well-known cab providers in the nation, will be impacted by the decision. The Delhi transport department has issued a warning that 2 wheelers like scooters or bikes with non-transport (private) registration marks or number plates are being used to transport passengers. A government notice states that it is illegal to use a private vehicle as a commercial vehicle.
The Motor Vehicle Act of 1988 is being violated, according to the Transport Department, which discovered that 2 wheelers with Non-Transport (Private) registration marks & numbers plates were being used to transport passengers for rent or profit.

It is against the Motor Vehicles Act of 1988 to use two-wheelers for business. The Motor Vehicles Act states that private vehicles are not allowed to serve business purposes in India.
The notification states that the first violation will result in a punishment of INR 5,000, while the second violation would result in a fine of INR 10,000 and up to a year of imprisonment. The motorist may also lose his license for three months in addition to that.
The penalty for the firms, though, will be significantly larger. If these online services that offer users bike taxi ride aid the activity, they will be subject to a punishment of INR 100,000.

The Delhi government's action follows the Supreme Court's prohibition on Rapido services in the state of Maharashtra. The absence of a proper emergency button is another major issue with two-wheeler cab services. The security of female travelers is put at risk by this.
Rapido, Ola, and Uber have not yet released a statement. Kailash Gahlot, a Delhi MLA and minister of transportation, also tweeted about the notice. Please note, while autos and cab services have not yet been outlawed, the most recent prohibition imposed by the Delhi government will only apply to motorbikes.
