Cuttack And Rayagada Set To Benefit From New Flyover Projects By Indian Railways

Indian Railways announces a Rs 509 crore investment for flyovers in Cuttack and Rayagada, aimed at improving train operations and reducing traffic congestion. These projects are part of a broader initiative to enhance railway infrastructure across Odisha.

The Indian Railways has announced a significant investment of Rs 509 crore towards the construction of two critical flyovers in the districts of Cuttack and Rayagada, aiming to boost train operations and alleviate traffic bottlenecks. This financial commitment forms part of the Railways' ambitious Energy, Mineral and Cement Corridor Scheme, which seeks to enhance train movement efficiency and reduce traffic congestion in crucial areas. The announcement was made through an official release, emphasizing the strategic importance of these projects for the region's infrastructure development.

Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, during his recent visit to Odisha, highlighted the approval of these rail infrastructure projects, underlining the government's focus on improving the state's railway network. The sanctioned projects include a substantial 10.89-km flyover that will link Rajathgarh, Radhakishorepur, and Machhapur Railway Stations in the Cuttack district, with an allocated budget of Rs 268.92 crore. This initiative is expected to significantly enhance the connectivity and operational efficiency of the railway network in the area.

In addition to the Cuttack district project, the Railways has also earmarked Rs 239.83 crore for the construction of a 5.50-km flyover at Singapur Road Station in the Rayagada district. This flyover is strategically planned to mitigate the traffic congestion experienced on the Raipur-Vizianagaram line, providing a much-needed solution to one of the critical traffic challenges in the region.

The construction of these flyovers is anticipated to revolutionize train movement by allowing multiple trains to operate simultaneously from different directions, thus markedly improving operational efficiency.

The development of these flyovers is poised to tackle the existing operational bottlenecks by eradicating cross-traffic, which has been a major cause of delays and inefficiencies at key junctions, including Singapur Road Station, Rajathgarh, Radhakishorepur, and Machhapur.

By addressing these challenges, the Railways aims to significantly boost the region's railway infrastructure, ensuring smoother and more efficient train operations. This move not only promises to enhance the overall efficiency of the railway network in these districts but also contributes to the broader goal of improving the railway infrastructure across Odisha.
