Commuters on Namma Metro's Purple Line faced a difficult Thursday morning after a technical glitch disrupted train services for nearly two hours. The problem began around 9:15 a.m. when a train travelling from Vijayanagar to Hosahalli suddenly stopped midway due to a technical fault. It took more than 30 minutes

to move the train back to Vijayanagar station, where passengers were asked to get off.
Delay of Metro Services
This incident caused major delays across the entire line. The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) temporarily suspended services between Majestic and Challaghatta, while trains ran only between Mysuru Road and Majestic until about 10:15 a.m. Full services from Whitefield to Challaghatta resumed by 11 a.m.
Commuters Dissatisfaction
Passengers inside the stalled train said they were stuck for over 40 minutes without clear information. Sunil K, a daily commuter, shared that the train stopped suddenly after leaving Vijayanagar. "There was confusion and repeated announcements about delays. Finally, they said the train would return to Vijayanagar, and we all had to get down," he said. When the train reached the station, it was overcrowded, and passengers had to exit through the front and rear coach doors. Many, like Sunil, had to book cabs to reach their offices on time. Another commuter, Avinash, who was waiting at Vijayanagar, said there was no proper communication from Metro staff. "We waited over half an hour with no trains in sight, and even Namma Metro's social media handles had no updates," he added.
A senior BMRCL official explained that initial attempts to reverse the stuck train failed, which led to a longer delay. To handle the situation, they ran loop services between Majestic and Whitefield until normal operations resumed by 11 a.m.
