Goa Government’s New Advisory About Clicking Pictures, Booking Hotels, Drinking Alcohol, Etc

Clicking pictures without consent is prohibited now in goa, says the government's new advisory along with other things related to booking hotels, water activities, cruises, etc. Read on to know more.

Goa is a destination that is always caught up with domestic and international tourist, especially during the season time, every beach, café, bars, and casino are full of vacationers, and during such festive vacation mode, clicking pictures is a very common activity.

But now, when you visit Goa be careful with clicking pictures of tourists and ask for permission to click selfies rather than just taking out your camera and start clicking without their consent. Respect their privacy and taking permission now is compulsory in Goa as per the government.

The Goa tourism has released this advisory for visitors along with a list of instructions designed, among other things, to safeguard visitors' privacy, secure their safety, and assist them in avoiding being taken advantage of by fraudsters.

The advisory reads, "Respect other travelers' privacy by not taking selfies or photos without their consent, especially while they are sunbathing or swimming in the sea." In addition to various other issues pertaining to the tourism business, the government advisory forbids visitors from snapping selfies at risky sites such as sea rocks and sheer cliffs in order to prevent accidents.

The state tourist office has additionally asked visitors to the coastal state not to deface any monuments or heritage sites with graffiti or other forms of damage.

The notice advised travellers to exercise caution, avoid using unauthorized private taxis and stick to metered fares to prevent overcharging. Additionally, travellers are recommended to reserve lodging at authorised hotels, villas, or housing complexes that have been listed with the Tourism Department.

The warning states that it is illegal and punishable to consume alcohol in public places like beaches, but that it is acceptable inside places that have a license, such as bars, hotels, and other facilities.

Additionally, tourists have been cautioned against booking water activities and cruises through unauthorised touts or brokers. The advice further states that it is against the law to prepare meals outside in an open area and that violators could face fines of up to Rs. 50,000.
